Even at the final hour, the weirdness of this summer’s transition of power at Chelsea continues. We used to be ruthlessly efficient at this sort of thing, now everything’s is slow and delayed and murky. People are kept in the dark, futures are uncertain, and even when the whole world is reporting it, Chelsea are staying mum.
After taking charge of training this morning, Conte said his goodbyes. Multiple reports from trusted sources confirm this.
Antonio Conte did his final session today with the eleven first team players. The entire first team was left in the dark about Conte - Sarri until today. They didn't know what was happening until it happened. #CFC

Chelsea have been in radio silence for the better part of two months now, with the club refusing to comment or brief on most matters. This hasn’t changed.
#cfc declining to comment on #Conte sacking at the moment but he’s definitely gone. Said his goodbyes to people at training ground earlier today.

Eventually, Chelsea will have to actually confirm the sacking — Cesc Fabregas’s probably unauthorized tweet does not count! — at which point the big question will immediately become the arrival of Maurizio Sarri. Don’t expect that to happen today however, certainly not the second part.
Sarri due to replace Conte but, as things stand, no confirmation of his successor expected today. Chelsea are refusing to comment on the whole matter #cfc

It’s only fitting that in a summer dominated by delays and inaction, even the announcement of something that already happened is several hours late...
