As Alvaro Morata continues to flirt with Italy and Michy Batshuayi returns to fitness and thus to the BVB rumor mill, Chelsea continue to be linked with big-name, big-money strikers. They may all be just a touch unbelievable, but so far only the Robert Lewandowski ones have been debunked to any specific extent. So, it’s Gonzalo Higuain’s turn.
According to Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedullà, the same man we’ve been following for all the latest Sarri news, Chelsea have made “first contact” with Higuain’s brother and agent, Nicolas Higuain. Unlike a potential first contact with an alien life form, the Higuains may be receptive to a peaceful outcome, one that benefits all parties.
In fact, Gonzalo has recently revealed that he’d like to set foot in the Premier League “some day” and share in its entertainment. Is that day today? No. Is that day tomorrow? Who knows!
”I have a contract with Juventus, I have nothing to add. No one has communicated to me any changes, so I’m serene, my daughter will grow up in Turin.
“Would I like to play in the Premier League someday? Certainly, it’s by far the best league in the world and the matches are always entertaining for those watching, I’d like to play in it.”

Higuain was also linked with Chelsea recently as part of a potential Morata exit solution, so this builds on that very nicely for even more rumors in the future.
Unfortunately, Higuain is already on the wrong side of 30 and that’s not going to help his reported tendencies for laziness and ... umm ... “fitness issues” — Hazard synergy! — but there’s a chance all of this ends in a reunion with Maurizio Sarri, and in that case, it almost makes sense. Higuain’s never been better than when playing for the former Napoli head coach, whose own future remains very much in limbo but could yet involved Chelsea somehow.
