Back in the dusty stone age of last week when Maurizio Sarri looked all set to join Chelsea, one of the corollary rumors was how he was going to raid his old club Napoli for about half of a new team ... or at least the three players with buyout clauses because otherwise we’d have to deal with Aurelio De Laurentiis again and that’s just a recipe for a headache.
As it turns out, Chelsea may have avoided the headache of having to deal with the Napoli owner altogether by dropping out of the Sarri drama — instead, we’re just experiencing general frustration at the club’s overall situation — but even if we weren’t willing to pay Sarri’s release clause, apparently we may still be willing to pay one of the players’.
Full back Elseid Hysaj is one such player, and perhaps the most realistic target as he has developed a strong professional relationship with the only coach he’s ever played senior football for (at Empoli and then at Napoli). It’s not inconceivable that the’d want to follow Sarri wherever he goes. But even if he’s not completely happy with the situation, it doesn’t sound like he wants to leave Napoli at the moment.
“The farewell of Sarri is not good news given that I’ve been with the coach for 6 years.
“But Napoli have made a good choice with Ancelotti who is an excellent coach and we know how many titles he won. Future? They are just rumors, I do not know anything and I only read what is written.”

Hysaj’s release clause is a hefty £44m (or roughly two Zappacostas). Good help isn’t easy or cheap to find these days however...
