More rumors out of Italy, though this time of the selling kind. Or perhaps the loaning kind. The player in question: Jeremie Boga. The club: mid-table Serie A outfit Sassuolo.

Gianluca Di Marzio mentions the loan possibility, but the player himself was pretty clear just last month that he’s done with that life after three years in it (Rennes, Granada, Birmingham City, in that order).
“I have clear ideas for my future. This is my third season on loan. I have a lot of experience at the end of the season and I feel ready for next year either to fight to try to impose myself at Chelsea or to leave the club. I do not really want another loan”
-Jeremie Boga; May 2018
Boga’s third season on loan began with his first career Chelsea appearance, a start even, but ended just 18 minutes later when Gary Cahill got a red card and Boga made way for fellow youngster Andreas Christensen. It would be the first of 40 appearances for Christensen, in what should be the first season of a long and successful Chelsea career. Meanwhile, Boga hit the road again.
Now, young Jeremie is saying the same things Christensen was saying last season, what Loftus-Cheek was saying last week, what Courtois was saying in 2014. Play me. Or lose me. (Though RLC may be open to another loan.)
So while Di Marzio mentions loan, Boga could very well follow the example of Chalobah, Ake, or even Harvey St Clair. If there is a buyback clause — and the Serie A is certainly not averse to creative transfers and various associated clauses — then it’s all the same. If there isn’t; well that might be a problem.
Boga, now 21 and going on a decade in the Chelsea system, may be closer to another Kakuta than another Hazard at this point, but he’s got plenty of talent that should not be allowed to go to waste like that.
Eerily similar to Kakuta; Championship to France to Vitesse to Serie A to La Liga.
