Davide Zappacosta’s Chelsea adventure may soon be at an end, barely twelve months after it began. While he’s not been terrible in those twelve months, he’s also not been great and certainly has not worked out as well as his fellow Deadline Day-er from Italy the year prior, Marcos Alonso. Chelsea may not be able to do a return to sender on him, but we may be able to do the next best thing, flog him off to Inter Milan, who are looking for a new right back.
Last week, the rumor from Corriere dello Sport claimed that Zappacosta was on Inter’s shortlist. Yesterday, those evolved to an “inquiry” and today we have words from the agent, even, who had been meeting with Inter dignitaries. The inquiry was to the tune of €20m, according to Corriere dello Sport once again, which would represent a small discount on what Chelsea paid last August. And while the agent did not specifically confirm that Zappacosta was on the agenda, he did confirm that he’s been chatting with Inter.
“Only a chat, for the moment there is nothing.”

Zappacosta, Florenzi, and Vecino are all represented by Lucci, and all three have been linked with Inter recently. Inter do need a right back however, and Zappacosta would perhaps be the most likely of the three to successfully fill the vacancy left by Joao Cancelo.
