The latest “exclusive” from Alfredo Pedullà is that today, Tuesday, is “the crucial day” for Chelsea and Sarri. Yesterday was supposed to be the start of the “hot days” but it sure seems to have remained as cold as it has been for the past 2-3 weeks. So Pedullà’s back at it, pushing the same story he’s been hawking since the end of the club season and Napoli’s appointment of Carlo Ancelotti and non-sacking of Maurizio Sarri.
Is “transfer guru” Pedullà going to be right this time? “Tomorrow we will know”, he writes yesterday about today, “after many weeks lived on the razor’s edge.”
But, as with the boy who cried wolf or the Tancredi who cried Cavani, we can only listen and pay attention so many times before we start ignoring him. Sarri’s future probably will get resolved eventually, and so will Chelsea’s head coaching situation. Perhaps those will happen at the same time. Or perhaps we’ll continue to sit around, waiting in limbo for the train that never comes.
(And that’s fine, but in that case, Conte needs to be fully supported.)
