Carlo Ancelotti has barely been in the job for 24 hours in Naples, but he’s already having a positive effect on their potential transfer business this summer. Just goes to show that even in modern football, where managers rarely last more than a year or two, they can have great influence like that.
Here’s Jean Michaël Seri’s agent, for example, to talk up the possibility of his client playing for the Man With The Winning Eyebrows.
“It’s true that there are possibilities in England, so we’ll see, but Ancelotti has a strong image and is very respected by the players he’s managed, which can be a decisive factor for Seri.
“Basically, [Seri] works via his emotions. He’ll go where he’s most desired, so if you really want him and you’re welcoming… Because Napoli play nice football, and over the years they’ve become a bigger club, so he’s going to listen very carefully.”
But Chelsea can be very welcoming, too, Jean Michaël!
The Blues had been vaulted to the top of the queue for the 26-year-old OGC Nice standout by recent rumors out of France, but his agent is certainly playing up the Neapolitan angle.
Napoli may actually be in need of Seri if Jorginho decides to pack it up alongside Sarri. That’s a pretty big ‘if’ at the moment, but the Napoli midfielder has been linked with big moves to Manchester City and Chelsea recently as well.
In any case, Seri’s release clause is good through the end of the World Cup, so as long as a team can convince him, he seems ready and willing to trade up from the French Riviera.
“Every year, there is a €40m clause that is valid until July 15th. Before then, they just have to offer the amount and there’s no need to have negotiations with Nice.”

Seri almost joined Barcelona last summer and has strongly been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, and now Napoli. There are probably no bad choices for him, but some could be smarter than others.
