It is not exactly “breaking news” that Kenedy is earning quite a bit of attention since his loan move to Newcastle in January. Featuring as a left midfielder for Rafael Benítez’s and showing the world he deserves more than simply being shoe-horned into a defensive position to make up numbers at Chelsea, the 22-year-old has been linked not only with a return to Tyneside next season, but also a transfer to Liverpool or Arsenal, or even PSG and Bayern Munich.
While we can surely safely stuff most these links into the “agent machinations” bag, the Bayern links have actually gathered a bit of momentum thanks to a report from a report from well-respected German magazine kicker.
As per the report, Bayern see the Chelsea youngster as a potential replacement for Juan Bernat, who impressed in his first season after joining from Valencia in 2014 but has done little of note since and has spent most of this season injured. Bernat is only three years Kenedy’s senior, but with only a year left on his contract, is expected to be moved on this summer.
Unfortunately for Kenedy, Bernat also plays at left back, though if truly given a chance to head to Bavaria, Kenedy surely would not turn the offer down. Whether such a possibility truly exists remains to be seen. It all sounds just a bit too fanciful, a bit too agent-y, though we know that the man doing the agenting, Giuliano Bertolucci, certainly can work a good deal for his clients (see: Oscar, for example) and Bayern don’t necessarily shy away from signing young, promising players among all the other big names.
It certainly could be a very interesting summer for Kenedy.
