After a solid (and at times spectacular) debut season for Watford, former Fluminense standout and Brazil U20 international Richarlison is expected to be one of the summer’s hotter transfer targets, and not just in the Premier League but perhaps elsewhere in Europe as well. That’s the story from this morning’s Mirror, who go fishing for names from Ligue 1 and come up with a most unsurprising catch of PSG and AS Monaco.
Those two thus join previously rumored Arsenal and Chelsea in the “race” for the 20-year-old’s signature, which should certainly suit Watford (who are looking to possibly quadruple their £10-11m investment from last summer) as well as Richarlison himself (and his agent). Adding more potential suitors to a transfer rumor is always likely to generate more bids, more action, more money in pockets.
That said, Richarlison to Chelsea would make plenty of sense. He’s good enough, he’s young enough, and he’s already struck up an off-pitch friendship with two of our own Brazilians in Willian and David Luiz. Chelsea (and Arsenal) were rumored to have made a move in January already. That was obviously unsuccessful, but it has more than laid a solid foundation for future rumors and possibly future transfer action.
