Strange times in which managerial transfer rumours are overtaking players’, but here is another report to keep the mill churning at full speed!
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via Inside Futbol), Monaco are already readying themselves for the impeding exit of head coach Leonardo Jardim, who is currently a potential managerial target for Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal, and considering a potential replacement in Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri, who is also a rumoured target for Chelsea to take over Antonio Conte’s job this summer. One big happy rumor-family!
Speaking of happy, Jardim is apparently happy enough in the Principality, but the club fear they won’t be able to retain him with Premier League moneys ready to tempt him north. So, to prepare for that eventuality, Monaco have offered a €6 million-per-year contract to Sarri, but he’s refusing to consider his future until after the current season, fully concentrating on Napoli’s title challenge against perennial Serie A powers Juventus — who might also be considering a managerial change.
It’s all happening.
Jardim and Sarri are quite similar in their style and methods, and the latter could conceivably carry on the former’s work at Monaco in terms of working within a set budget and developing players while playing attacking football — sure to make former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, now pulling the strings on the Riviera, quite happy.
Meanwhile, Jardim is the current community favorite for anyone other than Conte to manage Chelsea next season. Win-win?
