Elseid Hysaj was one of the Napoli players whom Maurizio Sarri wanted to bring over to England with him last summer, but Napoli supremo Aurelio De Laurentiis put a stop to all that by insisting on a clause of non-belligerence as part of letting Sarri go. In the end, Napoli’s only loss was Jorginho.
That hasn’t stopped Hysaj’s name showing up in Chelsea transfer rumors repeatedly since, first because he wasn’t happy under Ancelotti, then because he was looking to sign a new contract, and now because it’s almost January. Hysaj’s agent is certainly earning his keep!
“I can’t rule out resuming negotiations with Chelsea in January. We know there was contact in the summer because Sarri wanted him, and we also know that Zappacosta is not to the liking of the coach. We’ll see how it goes, anything could happen.”

Hysaj is halfway through the five-year deal he signed in 2016, so it will soon be time to make a decision, to either to sign a new deal in Naples or re-join his old coach with whom he had worked at both Empoli and Napoli.
Going after the 24-year-old full back who can play on either flank would make plenty of sense for Chelsea, even with a transfer fee in the region of €50-60m, though at this point this is still little more than just agent talk.
