There’s less than one month to go until the start of the winter transfer window, and the rumour mill is starting to spin at close to top speed, especially the Italian one, which hardly ever seems to take a break to begin with.

As has been the case for the past few weeks, it’s once again Milan making noise, and once again it’s Cesc Fàbregas in their crosshairs. (Plus Zlatan Ibrahimovic! Plus probably a few more.)

The Rossoneri, now on solid financial and management footing, are hoping to secure their first top-four finish in the Serie A since 2012, when they finished runners-up to Antonio Conte’s Juventus. Director and legend Paolo Maldini is hoping to help in those aim by fanning the flames of said transfers, hoping to turn smoke into fire into transfers.

“Fabregas and Ibra? We have ideas...”

“We want to do everything so we can finish in the top four and we’ll try to make signings, but we’re happy with this team regardless. Even those whose contracts are expiring are showing great professionalism.”

Even though life at the Bridge has been good to Fàbregas over the last 4+ seasons, he’s about to enter the last six months of his contract without a renewal on the horizon. He’s expressed his intent to stay through the end of the season and continue fighting for his place, but he might have to start thinking about life after Chelsea pretty soon. He’s been forever linked with AC Milan, and maybe a brief turn in glamorous Milano could be on the cards soon.
