He’s said it so often that it’s actually getting a bit tiresome.

Once again, Eden Hazard has reaffirmed his Real Madrid dream.

And his Chelsea happiness.

And his personal dilemma.

This has become so commonplace that it might not even be worth writing about, but the headlines once again go for the sensational as if it were a brand new story, so here we are.

All the following headlines assume you have the cognitive capacity of a newt.

SENSATIONAL BREAKING NEWS OMG

No, it’s not revelation; it’s the same as it has been since at least the summer, if not longer. No, it’s not fresh, he was just asked the same question he’s been asked countless times and answered it the same way he’s answered it countless more.

No, talks haven’t “stalled”, which would imply that there’s been negative progress. There’s been no progress because the ball is in Hazard’s court. It’s up to him to decide. There is an offer on the table, possibly even improved from a year ago (closer to £400k than £300k, with bonuses — either way a Chelsea record). He either takes it or leaves it.

“There was a bit of talk [with Chelsea], but then it stopped, now we’re waiting.”

Waiting for ... Godot?

Nothing happens. Nobody comes, nobody goes. It’s awful.

Speaking to RMC Sport on Monday, he said what we’ve always known. He’s not made a decision yet. He’s torn between loving his current situation (now with 100 per cent more coach who shares his philosophy) and having one last chance to move to become a Galactico (assuming they’d want him, which isn’t necessarily the case either).

“[I’ve] not [decided] yet [...] The new [Chelsea] coach [Maurizio Sarri] thinks football like me, so we’ll see. The family is in London. I’m also going to be 28. I do not want to have any regrets at the end of my [career]. It’s a decision I’m going to make. I do not know when, but I’ll make it.”

“Me, you know me, I’ve always loved Real, even before [Zinedine] Zidane. We’ll see what happens. As I said, I’m already finishing this year with Chelsea. I still have a year of contract after this year. We’ll see.”

Sign the contract, Eden!

Or don’t.

Make a decision.

Any thoughts, Homer?
