But the Serie A are not “all in” yet

AC Milan sporting Leonardo has confirmed that they have been considering the possibility of signing Cesc Fàbregas, but after an initial approach, they have stopped short of going “all-in”.

“We evaluated it, considering the possibility, but didn’t go all in. We are still evaluating the conditions.”

Fàbregas, whose contract is up at the end of the season, has recently confirmed that the has not talked to any other team, which means that the initial approach did not really make it very far at all. The Rossoneri are dealing with some financial issues, as has been their habit of late, which could be part of the “conditions” that Leonardo mentions.

“There could be an economic sanction, we’ll see what happens. We do have a very negative balance sheet. We’ll certainly do something on the market, but we’ll take it slowly.

“Unfortunately, with the Financial Fair Play issue it has become a puzzle and a difficult one to work out. We need to wait and understand what we can actually do. The owners want to invest, but there are parameters to be respected.”

Given those circumstances, it’s quite likely that Fàbregas would gladly sign up for one more season at Chelsea, if we were to decide to extend him a one-year contract offer. So far, no such offer has been forthcoming.
