No sooner did Cesc Fàbregas get done denying the latest links to AC Milan (for the third year running), than yet another round of rumors emerged from Italy regarding the Rossoneri making the Chelsea midfielder one their marquee signings this January. (The other? Zlatan Ibrahimovic!)
Lending some credence to these continuing stories is that new AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis is set to take charge this week. The former Arsenal chief will be tasked with shoring up the club’s financial situation and somehow signing big-name, highly paid, and over-the-hill veterans is a part of that intention. (Plus Andreas Christensen because why not.)
So claim most of the big papers in Italy (via Football Italia), but we’ve certainly heard all of this before already. And that was before Fàbregas made it pretty clear that he’s not leaving in January. So while he may talk with foreign teams starting next month about a summer move, we can probably safely assume that he’s going to keep his word and at least see out the season at Stamford Bridge (especially if he continues to get regular playing time as Jorginho’s backup/rotation-buddy).
