According to French newspaper L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), clubs outside France remain lined up and ready to jump back on the Nabil Fekir train next summer. Apparently, Fekir himself also remains interested in a move away, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich named as potential suitors for his services, though likely to be joined by many others between now and the end of the season.
The 25-year-old almost joined Liverpool last summer in a €60 million transfer, but the plug was pulled on the deal at the last minute and Lyon retained the attacking midfielder for at least another season. A brief dalliance with Chelsea followed, but the Blues only ended up reinforcing central midfield and goalkeeper instead.
Unfortunately for all involved, Fekir’s having a slightly worse season than the standard he’s established over the last few years. After finishing with 18 goals and 8 assists in 30 appearances last season, he has just 2 goals and 2 assists in 7 league matches thus far. So he’s going to have to pick it up a bit to generate the same amount of interest as before.
But if/when he does, everyone will certainly be watching once again.
