While French league football remains firmly in the grasps of Paris Saint-Germain — they have yet to lose a single point 13 rounds into Ligue 1 this season — former rulers of the country’s football landscape, Olympique Lyonnais, are doing quite well for themselves as well, especially when it comes to revealing shiny new talents for the richer clubs to vie for.

The latest name to show up on the OL production line is Houssem Aouar. The 20-year-old Frenchman of Algerian descent made his professional debut in February 2017. Since then, his stock has only grown as he’s become a regular in Lyon’s starting eleven, making 44 appearances across all competitions last season.

Unsurprisingly, according to RMC Sport, Chelsea have been closely following his steps. This season, Aouar has racked up some nice performances already, with 5 goals and one assist in 13 league matches, and 3 assists in Champions League football.

Of course, Chelsea are hardly alone in this business. Liverpool are also mentioned, but surely that’s barely scratching the surface as far as interest is concerned. Aouar is certainly one to keep a close watch on.
