Rumours linking Napoli full back Elseid Hysaj to Chelsea have only grown stronger over the last few months, especially after his agent revealed last month that the 24-year-old would’ve followed his former boss Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge, just as he had once followed the head coach from Empoli to Napoli. But thanks to the non-belligerence clause that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis insisted on, Hysaj stayed put.
Of course, the agent’s well-timed revelation could’ve been just a negotiating tactic, or a bit of distraction as Hysaj had a slow start to the season under new head coach Carlo Ancelotti. But Hysaj has improved just as the team have, and sure enough, he’s now knee-deep in contract extension talks. Well done, Mr. Agent!
“We’ve been talking to Napoli for some time. In the next few weeks I’ll meet the president to understand if there are the conditions for a renewal.”
“He has only two-and-a-half years left on his contract.”

And so, the prospect of a second reunion between Sarri and Hysaj diminishes significantly. At least until the next twist in the tale.
