It has been a while since Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan (the second of four Hazards) left Chelsea for Borussia Mönchengladbach — first on a loan spell beginning in July 2014, and then on a permanent deal signed in February 2015, but completed in July that year — though it feels just like yesterday, as in almost every single transfer window since, Thorgan Hazard has been linked to a return to Stamford Bridge.
And so, it is time for these reports once again. Leading the way, German tabloid Bild, who claim that Thorgan is on Chelsea’s transfer wishlist ... which he probably never left.
This season has been Thorgan best yet, as he’s turned into Gladbach’s main attacking force, scoring 6 goals and recording 6 assists in 17 Bundesliga matches. The 24-year-old is thus drawing plenty of interest though Bild’s report only names Chelsea.
Last time Thorgan commented on these links, when the question of a buy-back clause came up for the umpteenth time — still no one knows, but probably not — he said he would be up for the challenge if Chelsea came knocking. Perhaps we’ll find out one day if any of this is true.
