You might not rate Ross Barkley as a potential Chelsea signing — be that for his skills, his age, his abilities, or what it might or might not mean for your favorite youth prospect — but even if you’re vehemently against this signing (and unless you’re from the future, you can’t possibly tell with absolute certainty how it will turn out), you can at least hopefully appreciate that we did manage to beat Spurs to his signature. Like Willian, Barkley has seen the light!
(Provided nothing goes wrong again at the eleventh hour like back in the summer.)
BREAKING: Tottenham no longer interested in Ross Barkley and have moved on to other targets, according to Sky sources. #SSN

So Spurs are no longer interested after being very interested all summer and rumored to have continued to be ever since! That’s pretty funny — “he didn’t not choose us; we chose not to choose him!”
With even the BBC jumping on board this train in the last hour or so, it looks like Chelsea will be getting their man after getting stood up at the altar medical table back in August. Whatever made Barkley change his mind — Chelsea’s persistence? Spurs truly changing their minds first? Something else? A combination of everything? — hopefully it will all have turned out for the better!
