It was pretty much confirmed already, but here’s the BBC anyway to make sure, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund have agreed a loan deal for Michy Batshuayi, which will see the Chelsea striker spend the second half of the season in the Bundesliga, presumably as the replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The BBC says it’s pending a medical, but surely that’s just a formality at this point.
Michy has been linked with loan moves away from Chelsea for about 12 months now, and finally one has come to fruition. Earlier in the window he had been strongly linked with Sevilla, but they had completed the loan signing of Sandro Ramirez from Everton yesterday, which closed off that avenue for good. Batshuayi was needed as one of the legs of the triangle between Chelsea, Arsenal, and BVB anyway.
Michy Batshuayi to Borussia Dortmund is ON!

There are no further details from the BBC on the deal yet, so all we know is that it’s a 6-month loan (for €1.5m as per Kicker’s report yesterday). There may or may not be further considerations, options, or extensions.
With Chelsea agreeing to the deal, we’re hopefully very confident that Olivier Giroud is indeed coming.
Don’t look now, but if we’re the first to blink in this triangle, Arsenal could very well “Demba Ba” us...
