Armed with a new long-term Chelsea contract and fresh off his heroics in the Checkatrade Trophy for the U21s, Charly Musonda Jr is supposedly slated for a Premier League loan move this month to help him get a few more minutes under his belt in the second-half of the season. With Ross Barkley now in the fold for the Blues, minutes for Charly would certainly be even harder to come by, and that’s assuming he can stay healthy.
Earlier this week we heard of a quartet of potential suitors from the top division, including Bournemouth, Watford, Newcastle, and West Bromwich Albion, but if former Mourinho-assistant Aitor Karanka has his way, Musonda will be heading one division lower, to the vanquishers of Arsenal in the FA Cup, Nottingham Forest.
Karanka is only three days into his tenure as manager at Forest, with the club confirming his appointment the day after their famous victory over the holders of the Cup that still means something, and according to John Percy of the Telegraph, he’s hoping to use Musonda in his bid to lead the team to promotion.

Forest are in need of serious improvement is they are to haul themselves up into the top spots from mid-table mediocrity. Perhaps Charly can help them in that endeavor? It might not be the Premier League move we all desire for him, but it might come with higher and steadier doses of minutes.
