Along with years of experience winning the Serie A with Juventus, Antonio Conte also brought to Chelsea endless rumours linking the club to players who ply their trade in his home country. From Radja Nainggolan, who remains firmly embedded at Roma, to Kalidou Koulibaly and Alex Sandro, who were both used to toy with Chelsea, the Italian connection has resulted in many stories but very few actually transfers.
The next name in this rumor-production line is Antonio Candreva with whom Conte worked regularly while in charge of the Italian national team. Inter Milan are apparently looking to shed a player or two before the end of the transfer window, and with no one stepping up to buy Ivan Perisic, Candreva could be next on the list.
In case Chelsea want to turn this rumor into reality, there is a fairly low price to meet. According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Inter owners Suning have set a €25 million price tag on the midfielder.
Candreva still has three years left on his contract with Inter and is already at 30 years of age, which is the threshold for players to reach the one-year extension limbo at the Bridge. However Candreva is able to play in any position of the right flank including right wing back and central midfield, and thus could provide Chelsea the depth needed at two positions. In that sense, he may not be the worst option to go after.
