The 2017 summer transfer window appears to have saved its best story for last, and it’s the best story even though it concerns a player rejecting the chance to join Chelsea.
Ross Barkley isn’t alone in that regard of course — Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fernando Llorente, Alex Sandro, and many more turned down the chance to join Chelsea over the past couple months — but none of them did it quite like Ross. Here’s Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solkehol with the juicy details.
Chelsea £30m deal for Ross Barkley collapses after he changes his mind during the medical and decides to go back to Everton

This can’t be real, can it?
Can it?!?
If we’re reading this right, and I’d like to think that we are, Ross Barkley basically hopped off the treadmill in the middle of the medical and exited stage left while probably saying something like ‘screw you guys, I’m going home!’
Yes, we realize he’s injured so he probably wasn’t on the treadmill. Maybe the medical questionnaire was too long? Perhaps the MRI/CT scanner was too loud? Was the medical gown too scratchy?
Only Ross knows. And he’s probably not telling.
LOL.
