Chelsea, Manchester United linked with former Arsenal, Manchester City right back

Having been rebuffed for any and all wing-back targets so far this summer, Chelsea are apparently getting desperate enough to weigh up an approach for Bacary Sagna, who’s been out of contract since making 24 appearances for and then getting released by Manchester City in June.

Granted, this rumor comes from the Star, so it’s (hopefully) nothing more than the usual fare from the publication — i.e. a whole lot of nonsense — but considering that Sagna has a pulse and can play wing-back and would not cost untold amounts of moneys, it’s almost a sensible rumor to weigh up.

And I can’t believe I just typed that with 16 hours still to go in the transfer window. And I also can’t believe there are only 16 hours left and we’re basically in the same predicament as at the start of the summer — desperately searching for quality depth that would help the team compete not just in the Premier League but in the Champions League as well.

Anyway, Bacary Sagna, 34. Chelsea. Even Manchester United. See, we’re not the only ones desperate!
