Chelsea and their transfer target Danny Drinkwater may have made their best efforts in transforming the club's link to the English midfielder into a proper switch this summer, with the player going as far as handing a transfer request to his current club Leicester City. As reported by the Independent, Chelsea are still "way off" Leicester's asking price for Drinkwater. Previous reports claim his value stands at £40 million in light of his importance to the club, as well as the four years left on his current contract with the 2015-16 league champions.
Leicester have reportedly rejected approaches of £15 million and £30 million for the midfielder, who is not the only player looking to leave King Power Stadium as Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray are also making a push for their exits. But since Chelsea might be at losing end of a £40 million transfer battle with Liverpool for Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, they can very well use this amount to finally meet Leicester's valuation and put a definitive end to this saga.
