So, Manchester United have agreed a fee for Romelu Lukaku with Everton and Romelu Lukaku has now completed his medical with United as well. So now it’s time for Chelsea to act with gazumping force, right?
Alas, there’s probably no repeat of Pedro, Willian, Salah, et al. this time from the Blues. Lukaku’s set for Old Trafford and we can only hope it ends in as much disappointment as the last time he played for a team managed by José Mourinho.
In case there was any doubt over the veracity of the reports about a medical, Lukaku jumped on his Instagram to share a few pictures in his latest update. We can’t embed Instagram stories but his snaps made their way to Twitter as well.
Lukaku’s medical complete. And he’s signed his first United jersey! pic.twitter.com/geWWRbN90B— Dan Dormer (@dandormer) July 9, 2017
Lukaku feels blessed and thankful and blerrrgghgh. And then he shared a picture of him signing a little kid’s United shirt. You were supposed to be the chosen one, Romelu!
Presumably the medical took place in Los Angeles where Lukaku has been vacationing, partying, and training with future teammate Paul Pogba. The rest of Manchester United are expected to join up with them this weekend as they begin their pre-season preparations as well.
For Chelsea, unless there is a sensational gazumping in the works, the focus should be on other targets at this point, be that Morata or Belotti or a Costa peace accord or whatever else we can scrounge up in the next few weeks.
