Chelsea ‘hope to conclude’ Antonio Rüdiger transfer in short order

According to various reports over the past few days, Antonio Rüdiger has had at least two medicals in two different locations on in two opposite corners of the world, while also agreeing terms with Chelsea several times over. So it’s tough to really trust the latest update in this regard from Sky Sports, which claims that Chelsea ‘hope to conclude’ the Rüdiger deal in the ‘next few days’ after working out the last few details regarding personal terms with the 24-year-old. (The €35+4m fee with Roma had been agreed several days ago.)

Like most of Chelsea’s pending business this summer, this deal “should” have been completed some time ago yet here we are still waiting and anticipating.

But hopefully Sky’s understandings will indeed be proven correct this time around Chelsea can wrap up center back’s signing before too long. The squad are due back at Cobham on Monday and are due to fly out to China a week later for the pre-season tour (with a few stray rumors of a couple friendlies scheduled before then, probably behind closed doors), so getting players in before then would be most beneficial.
