Everton, Manchester United agree fee for Chelsea chosen one Romelu Lukaku -- reports

Just a few hours ago, the word was that Manchester United were attempting to gazump Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku. Now, it would appear that their gazumping has plenty of oomph behind it, with a fee already agreed for the 24-year-old striker with Everton.

Given that Everton were staunchly demanding £100m, the £75m sounds like a decent deal for United. It’s still an incredible price to pay of course, but it’s all relative in the end.

We won’t really know all the details at this point, nor is this deal guaranteed to go through — Lukaku, after all, did seem to prefer Chelsea over United when he talked about this earlier, and he has to agree terms with Mourinho’s new club as well, so there’s plenty of room for Chelsea to fight this, should we so choose.

Or, as Matt Law says, we could switch targets ourselves. Conte was supposedly preferring Morata to begin with, no?
