Chelsea’s signing of Antonio Rüdiger could be officially official by tonight as Sky Italia report that the 24-year-old Confederations Cup-winner is in London today, and is already taking or will soon be taking his medical.
Once that’s done, Rüdiger is expected to sign on the bottom line of his five-year contract with the Blues worth about £4m per season. If that’s gross salary (£77k per week), that’s not a bad deal at all. If it’s net, as salary figures in Italy tend be reported as, then the deal looks less not bad (£145k per week).
The final price, as per both Angelo Mangiante and Gianluca Di Marzio has increased by €1m since the last time this was reported as a “done deal” on Friday, with the €33+5m morphing into €35+4m, which translates to about £34.25m in today’s money. Let’s call it £35m.

Either way, Rüdiger looks another step closer to Chelsea and this whirlwind operation should be done soon.
