Chelsea to take advantage of Arsenal’s latest failure in contract negotiations

Like Alexis Sánchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has apparently made it clear that he will not a sign Arsenal’s latest contract offer. Arsene Wenger remains adamant that The Ox will stay, but just like with Alexis, unless they are truly willing to let them walk for free next summer, they will have to eventually relent and either offer improved terms or sell.

Along that line of thinking, Sky Sports is reporting that Chelsea are “set to begin negotiations” next week for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Chelsea are set to begin negotiations next week as they increase their efforts to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain [...] with Oxlade-Chamberlain so far refusing to sign an improved contract from Arsenal. We understand that earlier this week the player once again reiterated to manager Arsene Wenger that he had no intention of signing the deal presently on offer.

Arsenal are due back in the UK on Sunday with Chelsea expected to begin negotiations within 48 hours of their return.

Seeing as how The Ox is young, homegrown and versatile, capable at both wing-back and midfield, he could prove to be a very smart signing.
