Where once it was once Chelsea who were stuck in a constant loop of "closing in" on Danilo from Real Madrid, it’s now Manchester City who have taken over that honor. According to Spanish newspaper Marca (and others like the Telegraph) Manchester City are closing in on a deal for Danilo and are expected to wrap it up quite soon. Maybe they’ll have better luck than Chelsea.
City will be paying a €30 million initial fee for Danilo, with an extra €5 million included in add-ons. The player will also get an upgrade on his earnings at Madrid once he completes his switch to Manchester.
For several weeks Chelsea were believed to be the ones ahead in the chase, however things never progressed beyond the stage of “closing in” and eventually Manchester City butted in. Danilo is now convinced that he can join his new club with a proper chance of earning significant playing time after being second-choice to Dani Carvajal. Did no one tell him about Kyle Walker?
