Chelsea have found their man. Real Madrid and Chelsea have agreed on the transfer of Álvaro Morata. Not six hours after the rumors first broke, the deal is done. Wow.

The move is technically still pending personal terms and a medical, but surely those are formalities given that Chelsea have officially announced that the transfer has been agreed. Morata was in the USA with Real Madrid for pre-season but presumably he will shortly link up with his new teammates in China.
Morata started his career with Real Madrid. After not getting first team minutes and needing some development, Real Madrid and Juventus agreed on a transfer of the Spaniard for €20 million in July 2014. Madrid reserved the option to buy Morata back should they want to, and after scoring 15 goals for Juventus, Real bought Morata back for €30 million last summer. After returning to Madrid, Morata was an effective complement to Karim Benzema scoring 15 goals. Most of his contribution were as a backup to Benzema. He played a key role in Real’s success last season, but couldn’t gain a foothold in the lineup as the first choice striker. Which led to transfer talks being a part of Morata’s life for the last year.
And so as Diego Costa parties in Atlético gear, Morata is the new man at Chelsea.
Welcome to Chelsea, Álvaro Morata!
