AC Milan’s new owners, new money, and new ambitions have made them one of the most active teams in Europe in the transfer window so far. Unfortunately for young Chelsea midfielder Mario Pašalić, despite his agent pushing for the move all season, that also means that he’s not likely to get his wish of joining the Rossoneri on a permanent deal after spending last season there on loan.
While there are some suggestions that he will at least get a look-in this preseason from Chelsea, according to sports magazine Kicker (via Echo 24), there are several Bundesliga clubs interested in his services as well, including RB Leipzig, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart.
Wolfsburg, having barely survived relegation, would perhaps be the most attractive destination, while Stuttgart, fresh up from the second division, could use a proven top division talent like Pašalić — in three countries, even, after loan spells at Elche in La Liga, Monaco in Ligue 1, and Milan in Serie A — to help them survive the BuLi next season. RB Leipzig however might be a step too far, especially if they are able to retain the services of the wonderful Naby Keïta and Emil Forsberg.
With just one year left on his contract, Pašalić is yet another Chelsea loan warrior who’s expected to move on this summer. We’ve assumed that would be to Italy, but it might just be to Germany instead. Stay tuned.
