Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been one of the most successful and most highly coveted strikers in football over the past many years, but despite constant rumors he’s stayed put at Borussia Dortmund since 2013. Until now.
The striker, who’s older than you think at 28 — Diego Costa is only 8 months older — is looking to leaving Dortmund this summer, and after a move to Paris fell through earlier, is now basically being shopped to Premier League sides. Liverpool are said to be the most likely destination, though Klopp wasn’t always the biggest fan of PEA while they were both at BVB.
“We will listen to it when a club is willing to show its appreciation for Aubameyang in a financial way as well. If an official bid were to reach more than £63million, it would have to be reported as a necessary to proceed. This has not happened so far.”
Not many teams in the world could afford to pay BVB’s £63m asking price, even if that may be semi-reasonable in today’s market. Auba has claimed before that he’d only want to play for Real Madrid, but they are probably looking at other targets.
It’s tough to know if there is any real interest in or what the market’s like for the man who’s scored 79 goals total in the last two seasons but is probably at or very near his peak already. But if there is a market, Chelsea should probably keep an eye out regardless of how the Romelu Lukaku negotiations are going.
Auba is "Plan B"?!?! https://t.co/AkETxmnu3v
