Hazard ‘very happy’ and ready to stay ‘for a couple of years’ more at Chelsea

So, [FUN] off, Real Madrid

Singapore’s The Straits Times isn’t exactly the paper one would expect to be breaking exclusive Eden Hazard quotes and news, but perhaps with Chelsea heading that way for pre-season later this summer, they have extra incentive to talk to the players as this reporter apparently did with Hazard over the phone.

Either way, quotes that appeared in Singapore earlier this week are now making their way over to England, and the ones that are most interesting concern Hazard’s future, especially in light of the recently resurrected (even if just by The Sun) Real Madrid £100m rumors (yawn).

"I'm good here. I'm at one of the best clubs in the world and I think I'm gonna stay for a couple of years. I'm very happy. You can see (from my performances) on the pitch that I'm happy.

"Next season, we will have the Champions League to play but we want to keep the Premier League trophy in Chelsea. It's going to be hard but we know (people) expect a lot from Chelsea now."

"But now is the time to think about holidays."

Variations on this theme are nothing new in the world of Hazard media quotes, but it’s nice to see him talking in concrete terms about next season with Chelsea (and beyond!) — I don’t think he means “couple” as exactly “two”, incidentally, just as “more than one”.

"It's the dream of players to win everything but in football, it's very hard. We will work for that and we will see. We won the league and if we want to achieve more, we have to improve and work more. And if we bring in some new players, why not?"

With a new contract probably coming up for him this summer as well, raising his wages perhaps as high as £300,000 per week, and his family good and settled in London, there’s little reason for him to leave us. Never leave us!

(So, [FUN] off, Real Madrid, for the manyeth time.)
