For once, we have an update not from France but from the Netherlands regarding Bertrand Traoré’s situation and the ongoing transfer negotiations between Chelsea and Olympique Lyonnais. Why the Netherlands? That’s where Traoré was on loan last season with Ajax Amsterdam, and apparently they have been entertaining the idea of trying to acquire him as well.
Bertrand Traore set for €19m move to Lyon, says De Telegraaf https://t.co/D8R5vOrTVZ

But as De Telegraaf reports, Ajax could not compete with the moneys offered by Lyon, both in terms of a transfer fee and in terms of wages (that would’ve made Traoré the highest paid player at Ajax), and neither Chelsea not Traoré were interested in doing another loan deal. The report also claims that BVB and their new coach Peter Bosz were interested as well, but the Lyon president “moved heaven and earth” to get his man.
Traoré had agreed personal terms earlier this week, and now it seems that the two teams have finalized negotiations as well at €19m. There’s no word on bonuses (which were supposedly the last item to resolve) or on a buy-back clause.
