Could Paris Saint-Germain rescue Chelsea from the Diego Costa predicament?

After failing to secure the Ligue 1 title in Unai Emery's debut season, in addition to getting knocked out of the Champions League in bizarre fashion by choking away a massive lead against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to spend big this summer.

According to Le Parisien, the club's Qatari owners have set a €220 million transfer budget for new sporting director Antero Henrique, whose shortlist apparently includes Chelsea striker Diego Costa, as well as Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Manchester City's Sergio Agüero and AS Monaco's Kylian Mbappé ... even though Edinson Cavani did little wrong, scoring a ridiculous 49 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions this season.

But we’re not here to question PSG’s motivations. We’re here to hope that they may be able to offer an escape route from the predicament we’ve gotten ourselves into over Diego Costa. Come on, PSG, you know you want to! We won’t even ask for Marco Verratti in return.

(Meanwhile, there are further reports, including from the BBC, that Costa’s reply in the now infamous exchange with Conte was a “just kidding” sort of text. Oops.)
