According to French newspaper L'Equipe (via Sport Witness), the latest team to join the Kurt Zouma queue — assuming Chelsea are letting him go out on loan — are are Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille.
L'Equipe reports that while Marseille wish to buy players rather to loan them to build a squad that could challenge for European qualification, bringing in Zouma temporarily would allow them to focus their resources onto other players while reinforcing their defence at the same time. Meanwhile, Chelsea do not want to sell the 22-year-old (no buy-option of any sort in a potential loan) and could in fact offer him a new contract. Zouma’s current deal expires in two years.
Zouma was recently called up to join the French national team by manager Didier Deschamps, and a good 2017-18 season for him could mean not only a better shot at making it at Chelsea, but also a great shot at joining France at the 2018 World Cup. All in all, a good loan arrangement could get his career back on the right track.
