Alexis Sánchez would have to force €50m move from Arsenal to Chelsea — reports

The Alexis Sánchez-to-Chelsea story continues to simmer along quite nicely since first appearing on our radar back in the winter as just a potential opportunity given Arsenal’s dallying on his contract. With Alexis about to enter the final twelve months of his deal, the fireworks are only beginning.

Go-to Chelsea source Matt Law is the one bringing us the latest news, which sounds like a bit of call-to-action from the Blues to Alexis. According to the report, Alexis “has put Chelsea at the top” of his own wishlist, reciprocating similar reported eyelash-batting from Chelsea last week. Trouble is of course that Arsenal don’t want to sell to a direct rival, and while they have a rather terrible track record in similar situations, it does mean that Alexis would have to actively force a move.

Chelsea aren’t the only ones interested. Mohamed Bouhafsi, who was one of the first to report the David Luiz transfer last summer, claims that PSG have opened discussions as well, with Arsenal’s asking price understood to be around €50m. The Gunners would no doubt prefer to sell to a non-Premier League team, though apparently they are also willing to simply make the worst choice possible and force Alexis to see out his deal at the club.

So, a budding transfer saga and a battle of wills. “The situation points to a potentially ugly summer saga,” says Matt Law. Grab the popcorn, boys and girls!
