AC Milan’s takeover by new investors was finally completed yesterday after months and months of false news, false hopes, and false promises, representing an historic shift in the landscape after three decades of Silvio Berlusconi in charge.
While the takeover perhaps poses more questions than financial answers (the new owners are leveraging assets at the club they’re purchasing to help finalize the purchase), the rumor mill quickly sprung into action to resurrect a few of the rumors we’ve heard earlier this season, chief among those the one concerning a certain Cesc Fàbregas.

While some, like Corriere dello Sport are just reporting “mega-money” interest and intent, others, like Gazetta dello Sport, have even gone as far as to claim that Milan already have an agreement with Fàbregas for a summer move.
Gazetta is taking advantage of the closing and is already reporting that Cesc Fábregas and Keita have an agreement with Milan.

All previous rumors have been soundly denied by both Fàbregas and Conte and with Cesc making fairly regular starts or appearances off the bench — he’s appeared in no less than 22 straight matches, starting exactly half of them (third longest active streak in the team after Azpilicueta and Willian) — the stories had largely died away in recent times.
But now they’re back, so hurray for that.
That said, Fàbregas’s future could be in question as Chelsea look for upgrades and additions in midfielder, but given his team-high wages, his happiness in London, and his commitment to the Chelsea cause, he’s not exactly an easily movable asset. Still, stranger things have happened, so perhaps the new money at Milan is something to keep an eye on.
