With back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic expected to leave the club in the next transfer window, Chelsea continue to search for a capable player to fill the space left by the veteran Bosnian international. According to the Daily Mail, one potential option could be Galatasaray's Fernando Muslera.
In January, Muslera was one of the names linked with Chelsea to replace Begovic alongside other keepers such as AC Milan's Diego Lopez, Celtic's Craig Gordon and Paris Saint-Germain's Salvatore Sirigu. Muslera was supposedly a recommendation from goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon, who’s fulfilling an advisory role nowadays after possibly falling out with first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
With a contract set to end in June 2018, Muslera could join Chelsea for cheap, although Galatasaray are keen to offer him an extension.
Having accumulated almost 400 club appearances and 85 national caps since the beginning of his professional career in 2004, Muslera has more than enough experience to be a back-up as capable as Begovic. He would probably not ever displace Courtois as first-choice, but could provide good competition.
