Not two days after hinting at possible future drama regarding his contract situation at Everton, reports are emerging about Romelu Lukaku having rejected Everton’s club record extension offer.
Romelu Lukaku has told Everton he will not sign a new contract.

Rumored to be at around £140,000 per week, the contract was going to be the richest in Toffees history, but Lukaku (and his agent Mino Raiola) no doubt know that he could be making significantly more money elsewhere. Lukaku has also talked repeatedly about wanting to play in the Champions League, the prospects of which are likely to elude Everton for the foreseeable future.
Lukaku, who’s already the club’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League, was supposed to sign a new contract several times over since the summer. His agent even claimed more than once that they were 99 per cent done and ready to commit. So perhaps in light of that we shouldn’t take these latest reports too seriously either. Lukaku likes to change his mind, that much we know.
That said, rumors about his potential return to Chelsea are sure to intensify from now, especially if the Costa exit rumors start picking back up again. The BBC put his price at around £60m.
Fun fun fun!
