Today in Romelu Lukaku news, we have more of the same, but a bit stronger. This one comes from Paul Joyce of The Times, whose brief report simply states that Lukaku’s contract extension talks have stalled, again, despite his agent Mino Raiola claiming back in December that a new deal had been worked out 99.9 per cent.
Everton’s offer is said to be £140,000 per week, but some claim that it also includes an £80m release clause. Perhaps it is negotiations over this clause that are causing the delay, though Lukaku was supposed to have been given a new contract after the summer window already. Something’s afoot.

Burgeoning.
The £80m valuation is something to keep in mind as well should Chelsea’s interest materialize into something beyond just the recent rumors. If that’s Everton’s number (with or without a new contract), Chelsea will need to be prepared to possibly go that high to get our man — Everton weren’t budging on their £50m+ John Stones number two summers ago, nor their supposed £75m asking price on Lukaku last summer.
So that should be fun.
