The initial report from RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi about David Luiz (or his representatives) being in talks with Real Madrid have now gotten follow-up reports from both the Telegraph and the Daily Mail, published within minutes of each other, with both outlets claiming interest from the defending Spanish and European champions for a January move.

The Telegraph, with both Matt Law and Jason Burt on the byline, only go as far as putting David Luiz on Real’s “transfer radar” while the Mail’s Simon Jones says that Zidane & Co are “weighing up” a potential move. They’re all just variations on the same theme however, potentially briefed by the same source at the club, which could very well signal the end for the curly haired one’s second go-around at Chelsea.

The Spanish media have so far remained silent on the issue, reporting only on the initial RMC story from Bouhafsi.
David Luiz, who seemed indispensable just a short while ago but now has lost his place to Andreas Christensen, has a little over 18 months left on the contract he signed a little under 18 months ago. If Chelsea were to sell him, January would be the ideal time in terms of maximizing a transfer fee. While it would leave Conte short-handed in terms of defensive players, a potential loan-recall for Kurt Zouma, a major new signing (Van Dijk, Laporte likely to be in the running), or perhaps some random acquisition like Mouctar Diakhaby, whoever he may be, could fill the gap.
