According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea are ready to send midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek out on loan this month. Contenders for his signature include Championship leaders Brighton & Hove Albion and Premier League side West Ham, though there were rumors earlier of a potential move to Newcastle United as well.
Unlike the vast majority of prospects, the 20-year-old had stayed at Chelsea for the last year and a half after being promoted to the first-team by José Mourinho at the end of the 2014-15 season. However, he has yet to cement his place within the group, having been tried in midfield, attacking midfield, and even center forward. He has but one 9-minute appearance in the league to his name, along with two starts in the EFL Cup so far this season. Fellow youngster Nathaniel Chalobah has hoovered up most of the chances in midfield that have not gone to Nemanja Matic, N'Golo Kanté and Cesc Fàbregas.
Therefore, a loan stint is the best option for Loftus-Cheek's current situation.
