Meanwhile, goalkeeper Craig Gordon isn’t going anywhere either.

Moussa Dembélé’s brief visit to London has apparently concluded and the 20-year-old future superstar is heading back to Celtic as we speak. That’s word from Get French Football News, who had been tracking this situation closely since the suspiciously timed visit to London was confirmed for the £40m striker linked with Chelsea.

So, Dembélé’s knee is fine and his cover story for the Chelsea visit seems to have been bought as well. What? Isn’t January Transfer Deadline Day a long-lost John le Carré novel?

In all seriousness, most sources now agree that Chelsea are simply tracking Dembélé, which was probably a given already considering that we were interested in him last year before he opted to go to Celtic and his reputation and his future potential has only grown since. Something to look forward to in future transfer windows then.

UPDATE: Dembélé goes all Wolf of Wall Street to show he’s not going anywhere.

And speaking of future things, Celtic look set to keep goalkeeper Craig Gordon as well, despite Chelsea’s lucrative offer and repeated bids. Asmir Begović traveled with Chelsea to Liverpool and is expected to be on the bench. So unless he’s signing paperwork while he’s sitting there, he’s not finalizing any sort of transfer. (The transfer window shuts a little over an hour after the conclusion of the big Tuesday night showdown between Liverpool and Chelsea.)
