The January Transfer Deadline Day is almost here and things are hotting up nicely. Here’s an update from the Telegraph’s Matt Law regarding the rumor we heard a couple days ago that Chelsea were suddenly looking favorites (instead of Juventus) for the signature of Sead Kolašinac.

The full update claims that Chelsea and Schalke 04 are in negotiations, which possibly means that a transfer could happen in the next 24 hours. If Chelsea just wanted to sign Kolašinac in the summer, we could do so without talking to the club, since the 23-year-old’s contract is expiring and he’s free to discuss terms with other clubs as per the Bosman rule.

The tall, strong, and versatile Bosnian international, who could easily be seen as a left-footed analogue to Ivanović, has been at Schalke 04 since his late teens and despite losing a season to a torn ACL a couple years ago, has made over 100 appearances for the Royal Blues.
