One by one, the goalkeeper rumors are shot down. That’s the beauty of conjuring up a transfer rumor — two stories for the price of one!
After the Craig Gordon interest and rejection made the rounds yesterday (and also today, the same stories again, for some reason), here’s Diego Lopez, currently on loan at Espanyol and playing regularly rejecting any such notion that he’d want to come and warm the bench at Chelsea.
“It affects me positively. This kind of news are good for me because it’s a recognition of my job. But beyond that I am calm and focus on Espanyol until the 30th of June.”
And what about beyond the end of the season?
“Hopefully we can prolong out relationship after that. Nothing is going to happen until 30 June and from there from there AC Milan and Espanyol will have to give a step forward but I have repeated what I want.”
“If Espanyol want me they already know my intentions but they will need to reach an agreement [with Milan]. At times, we are a bit selfish but I am honest and I thank the club because they had confidence on me in a difficult moment.”

We can probably safely cross Diego Lopez off of the shortlist. Which leaves Fernando Muslera (ugh), or simply the status quo. And I don’t mean the band.
Sorry, Bego. Maybe in the summer, with a Premier League winners medal in your hand.
