As young midfielder Franck Kessié continues to impress his Premier League suitors with his play in Serie A (and soon at the Africa Cup of Nations), more and more clubs are joining the race for his signature. According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool are the latest club to get in the chase alongside Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United.
The 20-year-old will be representing Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations this month, with his current club Atalanta hoping that Kessié carries on his scintillating form in the competition. They have recently rejected a €17.2 million attempt from Everton, as well as a €25 million bid from Chelsea back in December.
Liverpool are supposedly willing to offer the full asking price of €40 million to acquire the midfielder according to Corriere dello Sport's report, as their manager Jürgen Klopp look to add more steel to the position. It’s understood that Atalanta are set to sell Kessié to the highest bidder in the summer transfer window.
Kessié is clearly highly coveted (and/or his agent is doing a very good job) so Chelsea will have to be careful not to overspend.
